Preparation for the centre.
The SASR Rehabilitation Centre is now taking shape and construction is in full swing! The land facilities located within TXU Torrens Island Power Station is an ideal environment for rehabilitating sick and injured sea and shore birds.
The only one of its kind in South Australia provides our feathered friends with natural surroundings and minimal human contact whilst on the road to recovery.
With Gray Mangrove Trees lined backdrop and a 450,000 Lt lagoon; the SASR Rehabilitation Centre will allow all seabirds in care the natural wonders they would find in the wild; whilst medical attention and physiotherapy can be carried out on a regular basis and assist in reducing the unnecessary stresses other concrete facilities may cause.

Truran Earthmovers move inn and start construction...Martelco Hire execrator finishes the job nicely.
With special thanks to Truran Earthmover for the clearing of obnoxious weeds such as: Box Thorne and Prickly Pear bushes and levelling of the land with new PDS sponsor Martelco Hire for all the appropriate machinery needed to finish the construction and preparation of the area for pond liner top be installed. TXU Torrens Island for donating land and office facilities for PDS and SASR along with additional financial support and ongoing dedication to this much needed cause. Without the support of such dedicated, understanding and priceless sponsors; this once small idea would have soon become a stagnate thought of the past.
