About Us

PDS Landcruiser & Patrol Boat.
The presence of so many dolphins in Adelaide metropolitan waters is a natural phenomenon that needs to be protected and preserved.
Project Dolphin Safe was established in 1998 after the killing of six bottlenose dolphins in the Port River area.
PDS President Aaron Machado and PDS volunteers have patrolled the Port River Estuary ever since, helping to monitor the dolphins, remove rubbish and other pollutants from the Estuary system and surrounding environments.
The objectives and purposes of Project Dolphin Safe are to protect and monitor the dolphins and marine life of the Port River Estuary and the greater South Australian waters, education, revegetation, rescues and restoration of key habitats.
